DID PRESIDENT AKUFFO ADDO REALLY PROMOTE THE ACT OF HOMOSEXUALITY ON AL JAZEERA

It is the duty of every                                           leader to ensure the interest of his people and needs of his country at large is served. The president of the republic on the 25th of November 2017 at 10:05 GMT talked to Al Jazeera a state-funded broadcaster in Doha, Qatar, owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network about the country's democratic success and his hopes for the continent in general.
As a human rights activist and as a leader being interviewed on an international platform where countries who offer donation and assistance to his country will be listening and watching, the President of the Republic of Ghana couldn't have said it any better than the comment he passed when the question was raised on "why Homosexuality still remained illegal in Ghana".
Now a human rights activist is a person engaged in social or political campaigns against the violation of human rights and/or abuse of human rights. To be fair and frank, He answered by saying, Ghanaians' are not ready to change the paradigm concerning how they do things and that is not withstanding, he meant to say Homosexuality isn't the way the average Ghanaian does their things, however, as a leader, he wouldn't hesitate in it's enforcement if it becomes pressurable and a greater section of the citizenry calls for it. To me, in ensuring nation growth, promoting freedom and ensuring the right of all is served, the need to heed to majority interest is the best way to go about events.
Emphatically, he spoke about the fact that, Democracy has suffered and gone through turbulence in the past before arriving at the place it is today in the United States and other developed countries. Relatively, homosexuality is bound to happen just as elsewhere in the world through the activities of advocacy/pressure groups and majority influence which facilitated to a greater extent the implementation of homosexuality notably gay rights and laws that ensured same sex marriage in the United States and many other countries.
The president of the land cannot, single handedly promote the implementation of homosexuality unless the country allows him space to do so. He is a human right activist who seeks to promote and ensure the smooth exercise of human rights and as well refuse the infringement of human rights at the expense of the other. As a leader and not a tyrant, he is permitted to promote majority interest and as such cannot take a decision because he feels to but because the nation calls for it.
On the other hand, He went furthur to talk about Child trafficking as another social canker and the need to solve such problem as it emanates primarily from poverty and many other related social factors. The host applauded him for his sweet tweets as compared to President Donald Trump. However, when asked of his opinion about Donald Trumps personality, he stated that, Donald Trump has a remarkable personality whose tweets contradicts his personality.

To conclude, i would like to add that, the European democracy as strong as it is now, was weaker three hundred years ago and same applies to every practice. Nana's comment related practices to homosexuality and the possibility of it gaining root if only the country calls for it. Apparently, Ghana is dominated by Christians and our moral values frowns upon the act which makes the possibility of the enforcement of Homosexual laws very unacceptable.

God lives to glorify his people
